Due to its large extension, the North German Basin is of significant importance for the further development of deep geothermal energy in Germany. For this purpose, the development of suitable exploitation concepts for low permeability sedimentary rocks is essential. With GeneSys the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) develops a showcase project for the geothermal utilisation of such sedimentary rocks in Hannover.
For this reason, WellPerform was asked to carry out an annulus cement analysis in order to investigate the long-term stability of the cement behind the various pipe rounds under different scenarios such as pressure tests or circulation during production.
